Water System Improvements (Distribution and Storage)
Coraopolis Water System

Water storage tank

Client: Coraopolis Water and Sewer Authority
Location: Coraopolis Borough, Allegheny County, PA

LSSE completed a Water System Master Plan in 2006 for the Coraopolis Water and Sewer Authority (CWSA). This Master Plan provided CWSA with a comprehensive evaluation of the existing water system facilities and made specific recommendations for capital improvements. CWSA then authorized LSSE to provide professional engineering services for design of distribution and storage improvements to the water system required to permit the CWSA to maintain an acceptable standard of water service and provide for current and future needs.

Design included computer modeling of the existing finished water storage and distribution system to evaluate various improvement alternatives. LSSE provided permitting, grant administration, engineering and design phase services for replacement and rehabilitation of existing water storage tanks, replacement of 2.5+ miles of transmission and distribution lines, updates to the centralized telemetry / control / monitoring system (SCADA), improvements to increase the available fire flow and re-chlorination system improvements.

As a result of this project, unaccounted for water loss was reduced by over 50%.
