LSSE provided planning, design and construction phase services for the Borough of Edgeworth, which maintains a combined sewer system tributary to the Municipal Authority of the Borough of Leetsdale's (MABL) collection and treatment system. LSSE performed physical survey, mapping, hydraulic characterization, modeling (SWMM) and related services for the purpose of identifying opportunities to mitigate peak wet weather flows originating in the Borough. This work also included CCTV investigation of Combined Sanitary Sewers and a sonar inspection of the river-submerged CSO outfall (36-inch discharge pipe), which was required prior to completion of the SHC, and to verify pipe geometry conditions and sedimentation prior to modeling.

This project included interception and re-routing of a historic stone lined/capped stream enclosure in a high density residential neighborhood that was tied directly into the CSS as well as re-routing of approximately 120 acres of surface drainage from the CSS to direct stream/river discharge. The project also required tunneling under PA SR 65, a busy four lane corridor and construction of a new storm sewer and discharge/headwall in the Ohio River.

The project included installation of corrugated polyethylene sewer pipe for separation of stream flow from the existing combined sewer system, which mitigated CSO's and alleviated home basement flooding; new inlets and manholes (storm and sanitary); concrete curb removal and replacement; roadway milling and resurfacing; installation of underdrain and replacement of concrete sidewalk and ADA concrete ramps.
