Green Infrastructure (GI) Best Management Practices (BMP) as an alternative to typical gray infrastructure approaches

Best Management Practices (BMPs) of Low Impact Development (LID) and Green Infrastructure (GI) had been widely utilized as a method of erosion / sedimentation and water pollution control. Recently methods have shifted from “green field” development practices to application of GI BMPs in mature urban neighborhoods. This paper addresses the use of a GIS-based BMP siting approach, at a planning level, to identifying potential sites for retrofit GI projects. This approach can minimize runoff to drainage systems.
