Flood Protection Project Parsons, Tucker County, West Virginia

Flood Protection Project Parsons, Tucker County, West Virginia

The primary objective of the engineering study was to identify improvements necessary to provide flood protection for the Kingsford Manufacturing facility to the plant from a 100-year storm and determine upstream and downstream water surface evaluation impacts caused by proposed improvements using hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS) to establish levee top elevations and, upstream and downstream water surface elevations.  A detailed design was prepared based on the study findings.

LSSE’s study/design included flood embankment levee, floodwall and modifications to existing fill/embankment at the riverfront facility.  Services included but were not limited to: surveying (13 river cross sections); engineering study; design; COE, FEMA, DEP and DNR permitting; wetland delineation and identification of probable replacement sites and procedures; base mapping; and HEC-RAS modeling.
