Coraopolis Riverfront Park

LSSE provided engineering services to Coraopolis Borough throughout its venture to establish a recreational park along the Borough’s riverfront abutting the Ohio River.  As part of this unique opportunity, LSSE assisted with project planning, submission of funding applications, field surveying, design, permitting, construction phase services, funding agency support,t and resident project representative services.  Beginning with initial funding applications, LSSE provided funding application support in 2016 and continues to provide support for future site development phases.

Between 2017 and 2018, the Borough secured the remaining three (3) of twelve (12) total properties comprising the current Riverfront Park footprint (4.5 acres).  Phase I and Phase II site improvements were completed in Calendar Year 2023 with Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) funding assistance.  Following the notice of funding award in Calendar Year 2018, LSSE provided engineering services to the Borough to develop a master plan for review and approval by the Borough Council.

Phase I site improvements generally included initial site development, bituminous and concrete pedestrian walkways, ADA accessible curb cut ramp, pavilion (24’x36’), parking area (32 parking spaces), including two (2) ADA accessible parking spaces, rain garden,n and associated stormwater management and all appurtenances and restoration for said construction.  The contract value associated with Phase I improvements was $578,242.50.

Phase II site improvements generally included pedestrian walkways, an amphitheater (16’x26’), precast concrete restrooms including connections with public water and sewage systems, electrical service, site lighting, landscaping, and all appurtenances and restoration for said construction.  The contract value associated with Phase II improvements was $573,979.00.
