Brighton Road Lift Station Improvements

Brighton Road Lift Station Improvements – North Sewickley Township

LSSE provided planning, design, and construction phase services for the Brighton Road Lift Station Improvements project. The objective of the project was to address residential basement backups and lift station bypassing during wet weather. The design program included a year-long flow monitoring program and alternatives analysis. Alternatives considered included onsite improvements, as well as increased conveyance to the existing downstream Hutter Avenue Lift Station.

The recommended alternative selected was the on-site improvements option, and the design program incorporated additional wet well capacity and depth (8’ diameter and approximately 20’ deep) to provide additional working volume at the Brighton Road Lift Station. The existing 7.5 HP submersible pumps were replaced in kind. New controls were installed, and the existing generator was replaced. The project required a Water Quality Part II Permit from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit. Coordination with the power company to extend 3-phase electric service was also necessary. The project was implemented while maintaining the existing lift station in operation for the duration of construction. LSSE also provided funding administration services for project financing, including a bond issue and ARPA grant funding from Beaver County.
