Indiana University of Pennsylvania Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Letter of Map Revision (LOMR)

LSSE was retained by Indiana University of Pennsylvania to  provide civil engineering and surveying services for the preparation of a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Letter of Map Revision to the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM).  Improvements to the University Campus improved flooding conditions at the confluence of Whites Run and Marsh Run.  As a result, the University chose to apply to FEMA to update the flood map for the area.

LSSE’s scope of work included:

  • Surveying Services for Stream Cross-Sections and Supplemental Topography of the study area.
  • Preparation of a Hydraulic Model of each stream channel utilizing the U.S. Department of the Army Corps of Engineers, HEC-RAS computer program.
  • Preparation of GIS and Annotated FIRM mapping.
  • Preparation of the Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) application.
  • Calibration of the mapping and hydraulic model with White Township and FEMA Staff.
