Water System Study & Improvements – Brighton Township Municipal Authority
Water System Study and Water System Improvements – Two 1.0 MG Water Storage Tanks, Booster Station Improvements and New Transmission Mains and Waterlines
In 1997, LSSE completed a Water System Study for the Brighton Township Municipal Authority (BTMA) which identified physical and/or operational improvements necessary to permit the BTMA to maintain a high standard of water service and provide for future development. BTMA is a growing primarily residential water system which had experienced significant growth in the past decades. The Study was comprehensive and evaluated existing and future demands/growth, developed system wide hydraulic model; identification and analysis of improvement alternatives; estimation of probable improvement costs; and presentation of the study findings.
BTMA implemented the improvements in this plan which included construction of two new storage tanks, reconfiguration of the pressure zones to include a new booster station with the new elevated storage tank, upgrade of existing pump station from 1.0 mgd to 2.0 mgd, demolition of undersized storage facilities, installation of 21,000 LF (4 miles) of 8-inch and 12-inch ductile iron water pumping and distribution mains; and installation of a centralized telemetry / control / monitoring system (SCADA) for all pumping and storage facilities.
In 2014, BTMA and LSSE completed an udpate to the Water System Master Plan and implemented improvements in this master plan which included replacement of 25,000 LF (4.7 miles) of 8, 10 and 12-inch pumping and distribution mains; upgrades to the SCADA system (updated Computer and PLC’s) and installation of emergency power and VFD’s at an existing pump station.
In 2019, the Water System Master Plan was updated and BTMA is in the process of implementing upgrades from this update which includeds VFD installtion at one of the pump stations and painting of storage tanks last painted in 1999 (20 years).
